JustTasks ("we," "us," or "our") operates the JustTasks mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
JustTasks is built with your privacy in mind:
- ✅ Your task content stays on your device — Task titles, notes, and locations are stored locally and never uploaded to our servers
- ✅ Anonymous analytics only — We collect anonymous, aggregated usage patterns to improve suggestions for all users (you can opt out)
- ✅ No tracking — We do not track your behavior across apps or sell your data
- ✅ No ads — We do not serve advertisements or share data with ad networks
- ✅ Minimal data collection — We only collect what's necessary for app improvement
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information Stored Locally Only (Never Leaves Your Device)
The following data is stored only on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Task titles, notes, and descriptions
- Due dates and reminder settings
- Location labels for tasks
- Personal analytics and productivity statistics
- App preferences and settings
Note about User Goals: If you create personal goals to influence AI suggestions, goal titles and descriptions are stored locally. When generating content for the Suggestions page, goal context may be sent to our AI provider after being cleansed of personally identifiable information (see Section 4.2). Your task data is never sent.
This data remains exclusively on your device and is protected by Apple's device encryption.
2.2 Anonymous Usage Analytics (Opt-Out)
To improve our suggestion engine and create better content for all users, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage patterns. This data is computed on your device and contains no personally identifiable information:
- Task counts (created, completed) — never titles or content
- Category and priority distributions (e.g., "12 work tasks, 8 personal")
- Timing patterns (peak creation/completion hours)
- Completion rates and trends
- Overdue rates
- Routine and pack usage counts
- App version, iOS version, locale (language only), and timezone offset
What is NEVER collected: Task titles, notes, descriptions, location labels, due dates, personal identifiers, or any content that could identify you or your tasks.
You can disable anonymous analytics at any time in Settings → Help Improve Suggestions. When disabled, no usage data is sent and any pending data is discarded.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do not collect:
- ❌ Your task titles, notes, or personal content
- ❌ Location coordinates or GPS data
- ❌ Contacts or calendar data
- ❌ Device identifiers for tracking
- ❌ Browsing history
- ❌ Analytics from third-party SDKs
- ❌ Advertising identifiers
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect only for:

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
4.2 Service Providers
We use the following service providers:

OpenAI Data Details: When generating content for the Suggestions page, we may send:
- Anonymous usage patterns (completion rates, preferred times, frequent categories)
- User goal context (if you've created goals to personalize suggestions)
Before any data is sent to our AI provider, we perform due diligence to remove and cleanse any personally identifiable information from the context used for content generation.
We never send: Task titles, task content, notes, location data, or personally identifiable information. AI-powered suggestions require a premium subscription. You can disable AI features in Settings.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or to:
- Comply with legal processes
- Protect our rights or safety
- Investigate fraud or security issues
4.4 Business Transfers
If JustTasks is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Encryption in Transit: All network communications use TLS 1.3
- Encryption at Rest: Supabase encrypts stored data using AES-256
- No Plain-Text Storage: Anonymous analytics data is encrypted at rest

7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Access
Your local task data is stored on your device and accessible at any time within the App.
7.2 Deletion
Uninstalling the App removes all local task data from your device.
7.3 Opt-Out
- You can disable anonymous usage analytics in Settings → Help Improve Suggestions
- You can disable AI features in Settings
7.4 California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA:
- Right to know what personal information we collect
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR including:
- Right to access your data

8. Children's Privacy
JustTasks is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

If you are outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the new policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending a notification for significant changes
